The Friends of the Bay County Libraries is a volunteer organization that raises money and helps with the enhancement of library operations.  Membership is comprised of people from throughout Bay County who are passionate about their libraries.  The Friends are governed by a Board of Directors, who are elected annually.  The current President is John Van Looy, who can be reached at (989) 892-9726.  If you are interested in joining, registration envelopes are available at any of the library branches. You may also print out this form, fill it out and mail it, along with a check, to our administrative office at the Alice & Jack Wirt Public Library, 500 Center Avenue, Bay City, MI 48708.

DATES: Thursday-Saturday, August 12-14, 2021
TIMES: Thurs 8 am-8 pm; Fri 10 am-8 pm; Sat 10 am-5 pm
LOCATION: Bay County Civic Arena, 4231 Shrestha Dr, Bay City, MI 48706

One of the largest used book sales in Michigan, thousands of items such as former best sellers, special interest, children’s materials, reference sources, magazines, CDs, audiobooks, DVDs and more will fill the rink at the Bay County Civic Arena.

Thursday: $2.00 Hardcovers; $1.00 Paperbacks; $0.50 Children's books
Friday: $1.00 Hardcovers; $0.50 Paperbacks & Children's books
Thursday & Friday: CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, etc. priced to move
Saturday Clearance: Fill a box or bag for $4.00

NEW THIS YEAR - Thursday & Friday only

  • BCLS will have a booth at the sale where you can purchase book bags for only $1.00.
  • Bay County residents who sign up for a first time BCLS library card at the sale will get a FREE book bag.
  • Everyone who stops at the booth can register to win a gift card! 

All proceeds from the book sale are used by The Friends of the Bay County Libraries to buy equipment, materials, and services for the public not made possible through the library system’s operating budget. Earnings from previous sales have funded such projects as children’s reading programs, library publications, visits by children’s authors, and community meeting room furniture.
