Frequently Asked Questions

The Bay County Library System app is getting an update! The new app will offer the same features and capabilities as our previous one, with easier navigation, more personalization capabilities, and more relevant search results.

Yes. Function of our old app will end permanently on December 31st, 2024. In order to prevent a pause in service, you’ll want to make sure you have the new app downloaded to your phone or other smart device by then.

You can find our new app in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store by using the links below or by searching for “VLC Member Libraries” on your device. The app’s icon currently features the same logo as the old one. After installing the new app, we recommend you uninstall the old one to prevent confusion.

Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bibliocommons.vlcnew&hl=en_US

Apple App Store:

To sync the new app features with your Library Card account, there is a one-time registration using your existing Library Card number (barcode) and PIN (password). If you have already created a username for the recently updated BCLS catalog, you do not need to register again.

Once you have registered, you can use your username OR barcode to log in. You don't have to try to remember your library card number. This is the same username that you use when you are accessing the BCLS catalog on a desktop computer.

With the app you can:

  • Search for books, movies, and other materials.
  • Place holds, view and renew your checkouts; manage your holds.
  • Stay logged in without re-entering your card number/username and PIN.
  • Manage your Shelves.
  • Scan ISBN barcodes of books, wherever you see them, to see if they are in our collection.

Yes! You can add and access multiple library cards from the My Library Cards screen, which can be accessed by tapping on the card icon near the top right. Add a library card number by tapping on the ‘Add card’ button and logging in with that account.

To switch between accounts, tap on the card icon near the top right (My Library Cards), then swipe left or right to move between library cards. When you see the card you want to use, tap in the circle next to Use This Card.

A maximum of 8 library cards can be added to the app, and cards must be added to the app on each device separately. Logging out of the app will not remove cards, but uninstalling the app, or clearing phone cache, will remove all stored cards.
