Maybe you have meant to get a library card for a while, or maybe you have been telling friends and family about our awesome resources, but found out they don’t have a library card. Well have no fear, because Bay County residents can get a temporary library card to be able to access our digital services including Overdrive (unfortunately this type of card will not work with Hoopla). Getting a temporary library card is quick, simple and painless.
To begin on your computer or mobile device go to the library’s website www.baycountylibrary.org. There is a red box with up-to-date Library Closure announcements. Towards the bottom of this red zone it says “NEED A CARD OR FORGOT YOUR PIN? You can register for an instant temporary card HERE.”--click on it.
Fill out all the fields. Please note that you will need to USE ALL CAPS. Also make sure you pick a 4 Digit Pin that is easy for you to remember. You will need this in the future.
Voila! You now have a library card number.
You can use this card number (and pin) with most of our online resources. Overdrive is one of the main places to download ebooks and digital audiobooks. To access this on tablets and mobile devices you will also need to download the app. Instructions for how to do this can be found here. Note: Libby and Overdrive are the same thing, just different interfaces. If you already have Libby, Overdrive is a repeat and vice versa. Books will check out for two weeks and you can check out up to five books at a time.
