Maybe you have meant to get a library card for a while, or maybe you have been telling friends and family about our awesome resources, but found out they don’t have a library card. Well have no fear, because Bay County residents can get a temporary library card to be able to access our digital services including Libby (Overdrive) and Hoopla. Getting a temporary library card is quick, simple and painless.
To register for an instant temporary card on your computer or mobile device, you can either, CLICK HERE or go to the library’s website www.baycountylibrary.org and click on the red "My Account" button at the top of the page, then select "Register".
Fill out all the fields. Please note that you will need to USE ALL CAPS. Also make sure you pick a 4 Digit Pin that is easy for you to remember. You will need this in the future.
Voila! You now have access to BCLS for 30 days.
You can use this card number (and pin) with most of our online resources. The Libby app (OverDrive) and Hoopla are the two main services to download ebooks and digital audiobooks. To access them on tablets and mobile devices, you will also need to download the apps. Instructions for how to do this can be found here. Books will check out for two weeks and you can check out up to 5 at a time on Libby and 10 on Hoopla.
Note: Libby and Overdrive are the same thing, just different interfaces. The OverDrive app will no longer be available in app stores beginning February 2022. We highly suggest you download Libby now.
