I am a sucker for romantic comedies. From the iconic lines, to the predictable plots, to the part where I want to yell at the characters because this could all be solved if they just talked to each other, they are just such a wonderful form of entertainment. And on top of everything else, rom-coms are a great escape read (or watch). I mean, doesn’t it sound nice to relax in the sun with a light, frothy read smiling and laughing?

Below are some of my recent favorite rom-com authors. I tried to pick ones with digital offerings, so you don’t have to wait until our physical buildings are open.

Jasmine Guillory- She is one of my top favorite reads right now. She first caught my attention with The Wedding Date. She has since followed that title up with The Proposal (a Hello Sunshine Book Club Pick), The Wedding Party, and Royal Holiday. One really neat thing Jasmine does is each book features characters that were introduced in an earlier book. Despite this, you do not need to read them in order, but it is fun and, honestly, that’s the way I prefer to read them. Check out her website here.

Christina Lauren - These books have been really great at combining laugh-out-loud scenes with aww-worthy romance. There are some hilarious scenes that you could easily imagine being made into a film. Some of my recent faves have included Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating, The Unhoneymooners, and Roomies. Check out her website here.

Mia Sosa - She is a newer author to me but I really loved her recent book, The Worst Best Man. Featuring a wedding planner who was left at the altar and her ex-fiance’s annoying, but terribly handsome brother. Check out her website here.

Sally Thorne-  Her books The Hating Game and 99 Percent Mine both do well with pulling stories from famous tropes (enemies-to lovers and girl code) and making them irresistible reads. You get invested in the characters and are rooting for them to move past their expectations to find happiness. Check out her website here.

Kerry Winfrey- Just the name can get you- Waiting for Tom Hanks. As the king of the rom-com, Tom Hanks makes perfect sense to center a charming tale of finding love in unexpected places..Check out her website here.

Lyssa Kay Adams- The Bromance Book Club is another title that easily grabs your attention. This one kicks off a new series of books following men who are at their top of the game, and who also happen to be part of a super-secret romance book club. Bonus: Author Lyssa Kay Adams is from Michigan. So support a local girl! Check out her website here

Don’t forget to also check out Hoopla for rom-com movies that are available to watch from home right now too, like 13 Going on 30, Bridget Jones’s Diary, and Return to Me.
