The BCLS Bookmobile is Bringing the Library to You!

Did you know that the Bay County Library System Bookmobile makes it easy to access books, materials, and library services no matter where you live? Whether you’re a busy parent, a senior citizen, a student, or someone who simply can’t always make it to a library branch, the bookmobile is here to serve you!

We are excited to share the new schedule for January–June 2025 so you can plan your visits and enjoy all that the bookmobile has to offer.

What is the Bookmobile?

The bookmobile is a traveling library on wheels that brings library services to neighborhoods, schools, senior centers, and other community locations across Bay County. It operates four days a week (Tuesday through Friday) and stops at 50 different locations on a rotating 3-week schedule.

This service ensures that residents who may not live near a library branch still have access to books, resources, and educational opportunities.

Why Use the Bookmobile? Top Benefits of This Service

• Convenience – Get library materials right in your neighborhood without having to travel to a branch.
• Access for All – Bookmobile service is designed especially for Bay County residents who may not have easy access to transportation or who live in underserved areas.
• Rotating Collection – Browse and check out a fresh selection of books, audiobooks, and DVDs that changes regularly.
• Request & Pick Up Materials – Place holds on items from any Bay County Library System branch (or even other Michigan libraries!) and pick them up at the bookmobile.
• Easy Returns – Items borrowed from the bookmobile can be returned to any library branch, and vice versa!
• On-the-Go Technology – A laptop with internet access is available for checking and sending emails.
• Programs & Community Engagement – The bookmobile occasionally attends outreach events and special programs during the warmer months!
• Donation Drop-Off – Have books to donate? Bring them to the bookmobile when it’s parked at the former South Side branch on Fridays from 9 AM to 12 PM. If you have a large donation, please call ahead at (989) 385-0837.
